Sehit Polis Ismail Ozbek Ortaokulu

Kestel is located in the southeastern of Marmara Region and is one of the seven districts of Bursa, which is Turkey's fourth largest city , as well as one of the most industrialized and culturally charged metropolitan centers in the country.
Şehit Polis İsmail Özbek Primary school is a pre-primary,primary and elementary school based in Kestel,Bursa and it has 30 teachers and 542 students. It is a vital reality that Kestel is a disadvantaged area. Since there are too many immigrants and refugees in our town (from the eastern parts of Turkey and especially from the countries Bulgaria,Greece and Albenia) our school has a rich and assorted portrait of different students. As teachers and school staff, we accept pupils from all backgrounds and religion and ethnic groups. This project will support us to unite all students in a single soul 'European Citizenship'.
The teachers  make efforts to give equal access to education to all our students, offering special attention to the disadvantaged ones as well as to the gifted ones. So the staff in our school does everything to help the children  adapt and cope with the difficulties that they meet. All the students have equal rights, despite their ethnical or social status, and they are taught to express tolerance and patience in the relationships with each other. A large number of students  will be included in the project and each of them will participate demonstrating positive attitude, ideas and talent.
Our school strives to make children confident and creative builders of their future. Our focus is on the whole child. We work toward an integrated curriculum that reaches across disciplined and age levels; the students are encouraged to meet academic challenges with openness enthusiasm and willingness to solve problems. We aim for an atmosphere of cooperation, with respect for individual differences and community values.
As a result of this, we would like to cooperate with different students and teachers from different parts of Europe in order to create an international dialogue among all the participants of this.
This project would also give our students a great chance to improve their foreign languages, to learn more about other European countries, their coteries of children games, songs and sports and to live their traditions and culture by seeing, feeling, and touching. With this project, we aim at providing an awareness of a "European Citizenship" among all the students, teachers, and other participants.
